Loungers have announced plans to open a bespoke café and bar “Fosforo Lounge” on King Street in Stretford town centre.

Take home a piece of local history with 100% of the proceeds going to Gorse Hill Studios.
When the town said goodbye to Stretford Mall, lots of people asked if they could take home one of its distinctive yellow bricks. So, before demolition began, 400 bricks were carefully saved, giving the community the chance to own a little piece of Stretford history.
The mall, the precinct, the Arndale - whatever you called it, it meant something to everyone. When it first opened, it was a big moment for Stretford: bold, modern and full of energy. For many, it was where you went to shop, meet friends and spend a Saturday afternoon.
Over the years, it became part of everyday life in Stretford. First jobs, quick errands, the big shop, coffee catch-ups and plenty of familiar faces.
As we look towards the next chapter in the town’s story, we want to say thank you to everyone who passed through its doors - to shop, to work, to meet, or just pass the time. Thank you for the memories, the milestones and the part the mall has played in so many people’s lives.
Each brick is available for £15, with 100% of the proceeds going to Gorse Hill Studios, a brilliant local youth arts charity based in Stretford.
Gorse Hill Studios works with young people to help them build aspirational pathways for their futures through creativity. Your donation will help them continue creating opportunities for children and young people to discover, create and express themselves through the arts.

Want one? You can reserve a brick here for collection or head down to The Unofficial Stretford Museum on Saturday 25th from 10am and we'll have 100 available to buy in person (card only).
Terms & Conditions
By purchasing a salvaged brick (or bricks) via Eventbrite, you agree to the following terms and conditions. All proceeds from this sale go directly to supporting Gorse Hill Studios.
1. The Product ("Sold As Seen")
- Authenticity and Condition: The bricks are salvaged from the demolition of Stretford Mall. Due to the nature of demolition and salvage, each brick is unique. They will vary in size, colour, and condition.
- Imperfections: Bricks may feature chips, cracks, residual mortar, dust, or sharp edges. They are sold strictly "as is" and "sold as seen."
- Intended Use: These bricks are sold as novelty keepsakes and pieces of local history. We make no guarantees or warranties regarding their structural integrity, load-bearing capacity, or suitability for any building or construction projects.
2. Purchases and Refunds
- Proof of Purchase: Your Eventbrite ticket acts as your proof of purchase. You must present this (either digitally or printed) at the time of collection.
- No Refunds: As this is a charitable initiative with all proceeds going to Gorse Hill Studios, all sales are final. We cannot offer refunds, exchanges, or returns under any circumstances.
3. Collection Policy (Strictly No Delivery)
- Collection Only: Due to the weight and nature of the product, we do not offer delivery or shipping. All purchases must be collected in person.
- Collection Windows: Bricks must be collected from The Unofficial Stretford Museum (opposite Greggs: 30 King St, Stretford, Manchester M32 8AE) during the designated collection windows or organise collection from the Stretford Management Suite.
- Uncollected Items: If you fail to collect your brick(s) within the designated collection window, your purchase will be treated as a direct donation to Gorse Hill Studios. We cannot store uncollected bricks indefinitely, and they may be re-sold or disposed of.
- Third-Party Collection: If you are sending someone else to collect your brick(s) on your behalf, they must have a copy of your Eventbrite ticket.
4. Health, Safety, and Transportation
- Handling: Bricks are heavy and abrasive. We strongly recommend bringing protective gloves to handle your item(s).
- Transportation: It is solely the buyer's responsibility to safely transport the bricks from the collection point. Please ensure you bring a sturdy bag, box, or a suitable vehicle if you are purchasing multiple bricks. Standard plastic carrier bags will likely break.
- Risk: The buyer assumes all risk for the handling, lifting, and transportation of the bricks once they have been handed over at the collection point.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the organizers (including representatives of Gorse Hill Studios and the demolition/site management teams) accept no liability for any personal injury, damage to property (including vehicles), or any direct or indirect loss arising from the collection, handling, or use of these salvaged bricks.
