Stretford Stride Art Collective presents Finding Our Way – a creative journey through Stretford!
Join Stretford Stride as they bring style and creativity to both people and place with a series of FREE, family-friendly workshops throughout February and March. Get hands-on with art, design, and expression, and be part of something special as the journey culminates in a spectacular showcase on 22nd March.
All workshops and the final showcase will take place in the former Calm Connections unit in the mall - get the below dates in the diary and get involved.
WORKSHOP 1
What: SHAPES OF STRETFORD
When: 15th FEBRUARY, 12–4pm
Where: The mall, former Calm Connections unit
Graphic collage and mark making workshop. In this playful, guided session we’ll be crafting shapes and patterns inspired by Stretford.
The only requirement is that you turn up, it really is a session for everyone. Outputs will be used to inform future workshops and props for our event day.

WORKSHOP 2
What: STRETFORD STEETWEAR
When: 22nd FEBRUARY, 12–4pm
Where: The mall, former Calm Connections unit
Upcycling design workshop. Transform old shirts into streetwear. You’ll explore
2D design, fabric combinations, details and graphic placement. No sewing involved
— just design, drawing, and styling. No sewing experience necessary - just an interest in design. The finished pieces will be donned by community legends in a celebratory performance on event day.

WORKSHOP 3
What: TROLLEY WEAVING
When:1st MARCH 11pm – 1pm
Where: Stretford Public Hall
Yes you heard it right. Trolley Weaving. Come along and help us dress this Stretford icon. Ribbons, tassels, pompoms, whatever you can weave. Consider that a challenge ; )

WORKSHOP 4
What: SEW THE WAY
When: 14th March, 12-4pm
Where: The mall, former Calm Connections unit
Stretford seamsters your community needs you! Fancy finishing off a collection of
garments designed in Stretford? If so, come down to this workshop and join us for a
space to sew and chat (maybe even a brew). We welcome sewers of all skills - maybe you can share your skills in the session with less experienced folk.

THE EVENT
What: FINDING OUR WAY

A celebration of all that is brilliant about Stretford. Think performance meets art gallery with a twist of Stretfordian humour. Event highlights include: wheelie bin DJ/ flash mob performance/community legends/fashion and graphic showcase/art station/music /food and more. . .

Head to the Stretford town centre this half term for a spooktacular scavenger hunt! Seek out the hidden letters around the centre, unscramble the puzzle, and you could WIN a £50 Home Bargains bundle!
Oktoberfest is landing in Stretford town centre from Saturday 4th - Sunday 5th October 2025. Dust off your Lederhosen and get ready for the ultimate weekend of Bavarian celebrations, as Stretford’s new Sir Tony Lloyd public square becomes Oktoberfest - featuring an array of delicious beer, street food, drinks and performances from a Bavarian Oompah Band.
Local pop-up bar and events specialists Rainy Heart are opening a brand new Hi-Fi bottle shop, pop-up-bar and event space in Stretford town centre this Friday 3rd October 2025. Located on the newly-restored King Street, the new grassroots arts venue will offer a vibrant space for artistic events, activities and platforming the local talent and voices of the Stretford community.
