Stretford Socials returns this May with Coronation-themed event

Stretford Socials: May 6th, 12-4pm

Stretford Town Centre is hosting an extra special Coronation themed day of family fun, this Saturday 6th May from 12-4pm.

This one-off royal event is a special edition of the monthly Stretford Socials event -  a FREE, family-friendly community event that brings together crafts and independent stalls, music, food and drink as well as kids’ activity to the Stretford Mall’s community cafe, The SQ, on the first Saturday of the month.

Stretford Socials: May 6th, 12-4pm

Popular local cafe, Uplift, have also found a new home within The SQ and will be relaunching during the Coronation-themed Stretford Socials. As the celebrations take place, they will be serving coffee, tea, and teaming up with local Stretford company, Playmaker Events, to host a charity cream tea. Taking place from 12pm - 4pm, the cream tea will be in conjunction with the nationwide “Coronation Big Lunch” celebrations. Raise a glass of fizz with the team, whilst also enjoying scones and unlimited hot drinks. Tickets for the charity cream tea are £7 for those wanting scones and unlimited hot drinks or £10 for those who’d like scones and prosecco. The money raised will go towards Christie’s Nightingale Unit. Tickets are available to be purchased from The SQ on the day.

The SQ area will be decked out with patriotic bunting and flags, and there will be FREE Coronation-themed arts and crafts for the kids. Craft boxes will be available as well as a playdough workshop, hosted by Little Bells Gifts. Local business, Beatties Bakery, have created a very special crown-shaped cookie for their Coronation Cookie Workshop which will take place on the day, with colourful icing and sweets for the whole family to decorate their special cookies. St. Matthew’s Church will also be back with their famous cake sale, serving a variety of delicious sweet treats.

From 11am to 3pm, the Coronation will be shown on a large projection screen - perfect for those wanting to watch this once in a lifetime event with their friends, family and the M32 community. A very regal and royal lion will also be roaring about around Stretford Town Centre, handing out Union Jacks to wave about during the big moment.

There will also be a dedicated seating area for the Trafford veterans and Theo, their mascot bear, where the community are invited to sit down with them for a chat and cup of tea. Stretford Knitters will be on hand to collect donations for breast cancer charities and showcasing their latest knitting creation.

Stretford based creative hub/music studios Cirkl Studios will also be providing the soundtrack, taking to the stage to lead a traditional sing along on Stretford’s community piano.
