"Sounds Like Stretford is an audio storytelling project capturing real voices and memories connected to Stretford.
The recordings will form part of a growing audio archive forTthe Unofficial Stretford Museum, celebrating the people, places, and everyday moments that shape the town.
From March 10th, a small recording space will open where local people can come and share short stories about their connection to Stretford. These “snapshot” recordings capture memories, reflections, or small moments connected to life in the town.
Alongside these, a number of longer personal stories will be recorded with selected contributors, helping to build a living audio portrait of Stretford.
The project will culminate in a Gala Listening Evening on 21 March (7pm–9pm) where audiences will be invited to hear the main recorded stories for the first time and celebrate the voices that make up the town.

Next up in Stretford's Unofficial Museum we have an exhibition all about the M60, and how it impacts our local communities. At its heart, this exhibition invites people to pause and reconsider the urban spaces they usually move through without a second thought.
This exhibition looks back at Nite School's absolutely iconic era 2025 the mall - the nights that turned a closed down pawnbrokers into a dancefloor and injected new levels into Stretford’s nightlife. And that’s including the legendary Boots rave with Bicep.
