June’s event is a special sustainability edition of their monthly Stretford Socials event - a FREE, family-friendly community event that brings together crafts and independent stalls, music, food and drink as well as kids’ activity in Stretford Mall’s community space, The SQ, on the first Saturday of the month.
In support of this month’s theme, sustainable clothes shop Stitched Up will be hosting an ‘Introduction to Clothes Swaps’ event - a boutique shopping experience with a difference.
Bring along up to three garments (both men’s and women’s clothes will be accepted) and each item will earn a stamp on a swap card. Enjoy some environmentally-friendly retail therapy browsing the rails and once you’ve found an item you love you can purchase them with your stamps. Any left over stamps won’t be wasted as they can be used at the next swap event.
To be a part of the Clothes Swap event, you can sign up here.
From 12.00pm, come along to a workshop hosted by Eco Warriors in Stretford Mall where you can join in with a FREE hands-on recycling experience.
Each session - the first being held at 12.00pm-1.00pm and the second at 1:30pm-2:30pm - starts with a short talk on recycling, including a hands-on experience holding worms, one of nature’s best recyclers.
Then, using various craft materials, create a ‘junk model’ which can be taken home. Whether it’s a robot made from cereal boxes or butterflies made from toilet rolls, the possibilities are endless and a chance to get your creative juices flowing.
Booking is essential so don’t miss out by signing up here.
Local business Urban Preserver will be offering its award-winning, homemade jams, chutneys and marmalades as well as cordials and chilli sauces. All ‘sauced’ locally and sustainably and not to be missed out on!
St. Matthew’s Church will also be back with their famous cake sale, serving a variety of delicious sweet treats.
