Major Milestone Reached For Stretford Town Centre as King Street Opens to the Public
Stretford is celebrating the opening of its brand new high street, marking a major milestone in its ambitious masterplan to revitalise the town centre.
The Northern Light Cinema, a family-run business, is delighted to announce the opening of its newest location in Stretford town centre: a three-screen cinema designed to bring warmth, creativity and community spirit to the heart of the town.
Following the success of its flagship site in Sale, the Mundin family continues its mission to create inclusive, welcoming spaces where film lovers of all ages can come together, connect and be inspired. The Stretford venue will offer a curated mix of new releases, family favourites, cult classics, live stream events from around the world and community-led events — all housed beautifully in a brand new unit on Pinnington Lane in Stretford town centre.
“We’re not just opening a cinema — we’re building a cultural hub,” said Tony Mundin, founder of Northern Light Cinema. “Stretford has a vibrant community, and we’re excited to bring our service-led ethos and love of film to this fantastic neighbourhood.”
Chris Houghton, Retail and Leisure manager from Bruntwood added: “The opening of a new cinema represents a milestone in the development of Stretford town centre. We are delighted that Northern Light is opening its doors and bringing with it a fantastic experience for the local community and beyond. We know it will be hugely popular.”
Cllr Tom Ross, Leader of Trafford Council, said: "This is another great step in Stretford's transformation, and the wide range of entertainment and amenities on offer to local people. We're pleased to support this development and look forward to seeing the cinema take shape and open to the public."
The cinema will also feature a cosy café-bar serving locally sourced treats, making it the perfect spot to meet friends, grab a drink, or simply soak up the atmosphere.
Northern Light Cinema Stretford will open its doors in March 2026.
