Stretford is set to welcome a new monthly market, bringing independent traders, great food and live music to the heart of the town centre.
Stretford Makers Market will launch on Saturday 28th March as part of the town’s much loved town-wide event, The Stretfest, before returning on the first Sunday of every month, from 10am–4pm.
Delivered in partnership between the Makers Market, Bruntwood and Trafford Council, and forms part of the wider transformation of Stretford town centre. The monthly event will bring a regular programme of independent traders, live music and street-level energy to the town centre.
The market’s debut coincides with The Stretfest, Stretford’s much-loved grassroots festival that fills the town with live music, performances, food and family-friendly activities. Known for its inclusive, community-led atmosphere, The Stretfest provides the perfect launchpad for a market rooted in creativity, independence and community spirit.
Stretford Makers Market will showcase a curated line-up of local makers, artisanfood traders, freshly baked goods and handcrafted products, all set against the backdrop of a town centre that’s being reshaped into a place to spend time, not just pass through.
Chris Houghton, Head of Retail & Leisure from Bruntwood, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Makers Market to Stretford town centre, launching as part of Stretfest. It’s a brilliant reflection of the momentum building here, bringing local independent makers, great food and a real sense of energy to King Street. We can’t wait to see the community come together to explore, shop local and make a day of it.”
Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, added: “This is great news for Stretford and will provide another good reason for people to spend their leisure time here. One of our Council priorities is to foster a thriving economy and Stretford Makers Market will be part of our vision for a fantastic town centre where shops and businesses do well and combine efforts to provide great offerings for residents and visitors.”
The introduction of the Makers Market forms part of wider plans to bring more independent retail, food and events to Stretford town centre, creating a lively destination for the local community and visitors alike.
