Major Milestone Reached For Stretford Town Centre as King Street Opens to the Public
Stretford is celebrating the opening of its brand new high street, marking a major milestone in its ambitious masterplan to revitalise the town centre.
Whilst of long-term benefit to our scheme and the town centre, the current work on Kingsway is not part of our redevelopment project and is taking place totally independently of Bruntwood.
This leaflet has been produced by Trafford Council and AE Yates, the main contractor for the Kingsway works, which provides more information and a map regarding any diversions.
As you will see, Trafford Council is looking to make the Kingsway and Barton Road junction safer and greener as part of its transformation of Stretford. Plans include new crossing points, cycle lanes, footpaths, trees and green spaces.
The Kingsway carriageway has been re-designed also to reduce speeds and improve the space for cyclists and pedestrians.

There has been a lot of progress behind the hoarding this month as we head towards opening the new high street and public square later this year. Significant advancements have been made in facade and roofing works to bring the (soon to be!) retail units to life.
