THE REDEVELOPMENT OF KING STREET IS GATHERING PACE AND OUR TOWN CENTRE SQUARE NEEDS A NAME, AND WHO COULD PICK A BETTER ONE THAN OUR VERY OWN COMMUNITY?

Opening in spring 2025, the square will be the heart of the town centre, a place where people meet, play, relax and connect. A town should reflect those who call it home, so we're eager to hear your ideas—whether it's a reflection of our rich heritage, a reference to our community, or a nod to our vibrant culture. We want to hear from everyone, so share your creativity and let's give our square a name that truly represents Stretford!

Terms and Conditions

 

  • Eligibility: Participation in the square naming competition is limited to individuals residing within the Greater Manchester area.
  • Entry Limitation: Each participant is allowed one entry only.
  • Submission Deadline: All entries must be submitted by the designated deadline of Sunday 19th May, 11:59 PM GMT. No submissions will be accepted after this time.
  • Parental Consent: Individuals under the age of 16 must obtain permission from a parent or legal guardian before entering the competition.
  • Consent for Publicity: By submitting an entry, participants consent to the use of their name, photograph, and submitted content for social media and public relations activities related to the competition.
  • Social Media and PR Participation: All participants agree to take part in any social media or public relations activities associated with the competition, if requested.
  • Judging Criteria: Names will be judged according to their creativity, relevance to the local area and adherence to the specified themes of heritage, community and culture, and suitability for square / street naming criteria.
  • Intellectual Property Rights: All submitted entries become the property of Stretford town centre, participants relinquish rights to their submissions beyond the competition.
  • Disqualification: We reserve the right to disqualify any entries that do not adhere to the rules or that are deemed inappropriate or offensive.
  • Winner Notification: Winner and runners up will be notified via email and in a public announcement at The Stretfest on Saturday 6th July
